(Really? While I might not be the smartest person in the world I AM familiar with the term “approximate” and I am pretty sure it wasn’t used right here…)
Nicky - My gift card won’t work - it gave me error code 23l32clrd56l
(WHO makes up these error codes?!)
MS - Where did you purchase the gift card sir?
Nicky - It came in the box when I purchased the HP Stream 13 from a Microsoft Store in the Chandler AZ Mall
MS - I understand sir - Where did you purchase the Stream?
Nicky - I bought it at the Microsoft Store in the Chandler, AZ Mall
MS - I understand sir - So you purchased the gift card from the online Microsoft Store?
Nicky - No. I bought it IN A MICROSOFT STORE HERE IN AZ. I did not order it online
MS - I understand sir - Thank you for the details - May I have the code
(at this time I SERIOUSLY doubted the MS people really understood or were even listening to Nicky)
Nicky - There was no code - it was a little book/pamphlet that came with the stream
MS - I understand sir - thank you for the details - please hold
(ahhhh, those fateful, life draining words - “please hold.” - It was quite clear to me that Nicky had no idea what that meant. He looked happy that they were trying to help him. Then a bit perturbed at how long they were talking. Then he was going crazy and asking me if I thought they hung up. Finally he just slumped in his chair. Yes, the life had drained out of him.)
--A long time later--
MS - I am terribly, terribly unable to help you - Please bear with me - I have been told that you will need to contact a higher power.
Nicky - I HAVE TO TALK TO GOD!!!!!
MS - Oh dear god… Um, no! You will need to talk to our head technician but he is quite busy right now. I will take your number and he will call back when he is available.
(Nicky gave them his number smiling and fully believing that he would be called back soon. It is so amusing how naive he is.)
(Three days later - still no call. Poor Nicky)
